Terroir at Its Most Extreme

Octomore 16.3 is the most terroir-driven expression in the series — a whisky that explores the profound influence of a single field on a single island. The barley for 16.3 was grown in Church Field on Octomore Farm, Islay, less than two miles from the Bruichladdich distillery. This hyper-local provenance gives the 16.3 a distinctive character that sets it apart from its siblings: a honeyed malt sweetness, a toasted grain earthiness, and a delicate salinity that speaks directly of the Islay soil and sea air in which the barley grew. Peat smoke is present, as always with Octomore, but here it plays a supporting role to the whisky's remarkable sense of place.

  • Nose: Distinctive and earthy — honeyed malt, toasted grain, and a gentle coastal salinity with delicate threads of peat smoke weaving through
  • Palate: Complex and layered — cereal sweetness, beeswax, and a subtle earthiness that reflects the Church Field barley's unique character, with smoke building softly in the background
  • Finish: Long and mineral with lingering honey, toasted grain, sea salt, and a clean, peaty warmth
  • Distillery: Bruichladdich, Islay, Scotland
  • Series: Octomore 16
  • Barley: Single Farm — Church Field, Octomore Farm, Islay
  • Peating Level: 101.4 PPM
  • ABV: 61.3% / Proof: 122.6
  • Size: 700ml

The most terroir-expressive Octomore — 16.3 is a whisky of extraordinary provenance and quiet complexity. For those who want to taste exactly where a whisky comes from.
