Masataka Taketsuru is the father of Japanese whisky — the man who traveled to Scotland in 1918 to learn the art of whisky making and returned to Japan to build the industry from scratch. The Taketsuru Pure Malt is named in his honor, blending whiskies from his two distilleries — Yoichi and Miyagikyo — to create a pure malt that captures the full range of his distilling vision: the bold, peaty character of Yoichi balanced with the elegant, fruity character of Miyagikyo.
