Nashville meets Kentucky — that’s the inspiration behind Nashtucky, Nashville Barrel Co.’s premium line of bourbon. Sourced from Kentucky and crafted with precision, these barrels represent the sweet spot where tradition and experimentation collide. When we got the chance to taste through their inventory, we didn’t hesitate.

We sat down blind with 12 barrels — a mix of 9- and 10-year expressions from both Nashville Barrel Co. and Nashtucky. What immediately stood out was the variation and depth. These weren’t cookie-cutter bourbons. Each barrel had its own story, its own character.

Tasting Notes:

Nose:
Sweet oak and dense caramel lead the way, layered with cinnamon, butterscotch, and warm bakery notes reminiscent of sweet cereal and fresh pastries. As it opens, rich dark fruit emerges—raisin, strawberry, black cherry, and syrupy plum—giving the aroma a deep character.

Palate:
Full and viscous with an impressive mouthfeel. Vanilla, caramel, and honey coat the palate alongside baked croissants, molasses, and dark fruit notes of black cherry and plum syrup. Hints of graham cracker and cinnamon candy add warmth and spice.

Finish:
Long and lingering with sweet oak, vanilla, and dense fruit giving way to subtle tobacco, anise, and light leather. A distinctive cherry cola note appears on the finish, followed by touches of cinnamon spice and toasted almond.

Great juice! So glad I joined the whiskey club otherwise I would have never picked it up. After I popped it I had about 3 healthy pours … get one and enjoy!

This one is just amazing. the nose is sweet pastry - grain notes , followed by honey , molasses , and dense caramel.Rich red fruits are at the end of the nose . The palate is dense with lots of the same flavors , more of the sweet pastry , strawberry strudel . Deeper cherry and plums notes . Dark , rich fruits , with cinnamon , sweet oak , honey , tons of caramel , slight sweat leather into a light tabacco . At the end of the finish, a district cherry cola note . This is a great experience.

Nose : Smells like caramel is being made right in front of you. Combine that with some fresh fruits, a bit of strawberry even for me that hits before a bread-y finish.

Palate : Mouthfeel and viscosity is great. And man does that caramel come through from the nose. The next thing that comes to mind is a Golden Grahams cereal as I get a nice cinnamon and honey note that is reminiscent of that childhood memory.

Finish : Everything took a twist here. Man. This is where it turns into a lot of unwind picks! Leather. Sweet Oak. Tobacco. Goodness. Lengthy finish that keeps you feeling like you just took the sip. Sit back and enjoy.
