Islay at Full Power

Lagavulin 12 Year Old Cask Strength is one of the most eagerly anticipated annual releases in the whisky world — a Special Release expression that delivers the full, uncompromising force of Lagavulin's legendary peated spirit at natural cask strength, without dilution or chill filtration. Released each year as part of Diageo's Special Releases program, each bottling is a snapshot of the distillery at a specific moment in time, with the ABV varying slightly from year to year. For those who want Lagavulin in its most raw and powerful form, this is the definitive expression.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Intense and complex — massive peat smoke, sea salt, and iodine with a rich sweetness of dark fruit, vanilla, and toffee that emerges as the whisky opens up in the glass
Palate: Powerful and layered — dark fruit, espresso, and a colossal peat smoke with a warming spice and a maritime salinity that builds to an extraordinary crescendo across the palate
Finish: Exceptionally long and smoky with lingering peat, sea salt, dark chocolate, and a warm, dignified fade that seems to last forever
