The Cocktail Classic, Straight from the Source
Sazerac Rye carries one of the most storied names in American whiskey. Named for the legendary Sazerac cocktail — widely considered the oldest known American cocktail, born in New Orleans — this rye whiskey is produced at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort, Kentucky and has been a bartender's staple and a whiskey lover's go-to for generations. Bottled at 90 proof with a high-rye mash bill, it delivers the bold, spicy character that defines the style: assertive, clean, and endlessly versatile. Sip it neat or let it anchor your next classic cocktail.
Tasting Notes
Nose: Fresh rye grain, black pepper, and citrus zest with hints of vanilla, mint, and a light floral sweetness
Palate: Crisp and spicy — rye pepper, dried herbs, caramel, and a touch of oak with a clean, dry backbone
Finish: Medium and dry with lingering spice, a hint of citrus, and a satisfying rye warmth
