Young Islay, Full of Promise

Port Askaig 8 Year Old is the entry point into Elixir Distillers' celebrated Port Askaig range — a young, vibrant Islay single malt that showcases the distillery's spirit at its most fresh and expressive. Eight years in ex-bourbon casks has produced a whisky that is lighter and more approachable than the range's older expressions, but no less characterful: the classic Islay peat smoke is present and correct, balanced by a youthful fruitiness and a clean coastal freshness that makes this one of the most accessible peated malts available.

  • Nose: Fresh and coastal — lemon zest, green apple, and a gentle peat smoke with vanilla sweetness and a soft maritime breeze
  • Palate: Light and vibrant — citrus fruit, vanilla, and a clean peat smoke with a briny coastal character and a gentle warming spice
  • Finish: Clean and medium-length with lingering smoke, sea salt, and a fresh, youthful fade
