The Wild Giant of Oaxacan Mezcal

Fidencio Tepextate is a rare and extraordinary mezcal made from wild Tepextate agave — one of the most dramatic and sought-after agave varieties in the mezcal world. Tepextate grows wild on steep, rocky cliffsides in Oaxaca, takes 25-35 years to mature, and produces a mezcal of breathtaking complexity and power. The name comes from the Nahuatl word for "stone place," reflecting the rugged terrain where this remarkable agave thrives. Fidencio produces this expression using traditional artisanal methods in Santiago Matátlan.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Bold and complex — roasted agave, tropical fruit, and a rich smoke with notes of dried herbs, earth, and a distinctive wild Tepextate character
Palate: Full-bodied and powerfully layered — roasted agave sweetness, tropical fruit, and a warming smoke with a silky mouthfeel and a depth that speaks to decades of wild agave maturation
Finish: Exceptionally long and warming with lingering smoke, tropical fruit, and a clean, mineral earthiness
