Twice Barreled for Added Complexity

Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel takes the award-winning Small Batch Bourbon to new heights through an innovative double-barrel finishing process. After fully maturing in traditional new charred oak barrels, this bourbon is transferred to a second, custom toasted new oak barrel where it develops even more sweet oak flavor and complexity. The result is a richer, more layered bourbon experience that showcases the impact of toasted oak.

The Toasted Barrel Process

While traditional bourbon barrels are charred, the second barrel used for Elijah Craig Toasted Barrel is toasted instead. This gentler heat treatment caramelizes the wood sugars differently, extracting sweeter, more nuanced flavors like vanilla, caramel, and baking spices without the aggressive char notes. The combination of charred and toasted oak creates a uniquely complex flavor profile.

Tasting Notes

Nose: Rich vanilla and caramel with enhanced sweet oak, butterscotch, and warm baking spices
Palate: Full-bodied with layers of honey, toffee, toasted oak, brown sugar, and hints of dark fruit
Finish: Long, smooth finish with lingering sweetness and complex oak character from the dual barrel treatment

Perfect For

Bourbon enthusiasts seeking innovative expressions that push traditional boundaries. Excellent neat or on the rocks to fully appreciate the toasted barrel influence.
