Despite its name, this classic cocktail is Italian in origin and dates to the 1860s. It is the direct predecessor of the more famous Negroni. The name came about because of its popularity with American expats in Italy.
Ingredients:
- 1 1/2 ounces Campari
- 1 1/2 ounces sweet vermouth
- Soda water, chilled, to top
- Garnish: orange twist
Instructions:
- Mix the ingredients directly in an old fashioned glass filled with ice cubes.
- Add a splash of Soda Water. Stir gently.
