It’s an 8.5 to 9.5 year old Kentucky straight bourbon, with a mashbill of 75% corn, 21% rye, and 4% malted barley. “There are only 18 barrels, and they’re all phenomenal, and all are jet fuel, with proofs between 137 and 146,” he says. There’s a heavy, rich oak note to these, followed by a lot of cherry syrup, a punch of tobacco, and a bit of mustiness that high proof fans will like. It’s big and robust, per Moix.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0585/2872/7110/files/RareCharacterKOASingleBarrelBourbon8Year136.1Proof-SelectedbyUnwind.png?v=1789009237
rare-character-vto-bourbon-750ml-unwind-store-pick
Rare Character VTO 'Baby Brook' Single Barrel Bourbon 9 Year | Selected by Unwind

Barrel Type: VTO-019 Single Barrel

Name: Baby Brook

Age: 9 years 3 months

Proof: 120.98pf / 60.49% ABV Cask Strength

Mash Bill: 75% corn, 21% rye, and 4% malted barley

Wax Color: Purple

Selection Details: Selected by the Unwind Barrel Selection Team along with Rare Character's Co-Founder, Peter Nevenglosky. We selected our barrel blind from proof and age. After trying this side by side with the highly sought-after Brook Hill, our tasting team wanted to name this barrel 'Baby Brook' as it resembled a similar viscous mouth feel and flavor profile but comes in at a much cheaper price point.

Tasting Notes: A viscous mouthfeel gives this whiskey a rich, full-bodied presence. On the nose and front palate, strong notes of vanilla dominate, transitioning smoothly into the mid-palate, where hints of light oak begin to emerge. As the flavor develops, butterscotch adds a layer of sweetness, rounding out the profile. The finish is nuanced, with delicate touches of black pepper and tobacco leaf, providing a slightly spicy conclusion.

Image Description: Our second Rare Character release features another activity we enjoy unwinding to and hope you can also unwind to.
